Did anyone see Apple’s iPad ad campaign “Your next computer, is not a computer”? Well, we agree. The world is going mobile and our software is designed for that. Plus, some people just don’t like using iPads like giant smartphones and that’s fine. If you want to get the most out of your software, make the hardware suit you.
Typing on an iPad can be annoying or cumbersome, especially when you have a line of people waiting to purchase wine and you want to capture all their email addresses. Make data entry quicker and easier with an iPad keyboard. There are lots of models out there to suit all budgets. Our favourites are Apple Smart Keyboard for iPad, Brydge Bluetooth Keyboard, and Logitech Slim Folio Case. Just make sure you get a compatible keyboard for your iPad.
By connecting a mouse to your iPad, your tablet can become even more powerful and productive. Again, like the keyboard, sometimes people just prefer not to use an iPad as a giant smartphone. If fingerprints on your POS are one of your biggest pet peeves, avoid it altogether with a mouse or stylus. There are lots of options out there and it can make your user experience that little bit more convenient. But again, it comes down to what works best for you.
An iPad stand is an easy accessory to overlook but might be ideal for your purposes. Perhaps you have a specific wine-tasting section, this might be an ideal location for an iPad with the WithWine Kiosk tasting app set up. You might prefer having your iPad upright when using our POS app but don’t want to have to hold it in your hands or rest it on your counter. There are so many stands on the market in different designs and materials, so you can easily find an option that works for you – and your cellar door’s style.
Staring at your laptop screen all day isn’t great for a myriad of reasons. From slouching to eye strain – especially if you are spending all day using the administration back-end. In the WithWine office, we all use a second display (sometimes even a third depending on our needs) so that our information isn’t cramped. We want the same for you. We recommend a nice 27-inch display screen so you can see the complete scope of your work.
Plus, did you know that you can hook your iPad up to an external display screen? You sure can! All you need is the right connection. Having an external display screen can make it easier for staff to show customers what they are purchasing and correct spelling mistakes on email addresses when using the WithWine POS app. Most monitors are pretty good these days and shouldn’t bust your budget.
